The Bulgarian split squat exercise is a variation of a regular squat which performs with one leg. Done with the end of the foot elevated over a bench, it builds muscles of the lower body without any additional stress on the back, usually found with traditional squats. Strengthening the upper leg and glute muscles will provide extra support for the spine. They are very easy to perform and require no spotter which makes them an approachable workout for new lifters.

One fact is that the single-leg work is sometimes overlooked and sometimes does not focus at all. The Bulgarian Split Squat is one of the best leg workouts and must be included in the lower body routines of individuals as it builds up lower body muscle and glute strength.  Moreover, Learning of where to put the front foot is the hardest challenge of this exercise.
